My Trouble

(to my dog)

When you came into my life
You could walk only to the sides
Smelled like milk that has gone off
Soft like silk, with needle-like claws

Now that you have grown so old
Need my help so let me hold
You when climbing up the stairs
Wag your tail, be free from cares

Wag, wag - they say you're a hooligan
Wag, wag - and that you're not very smart
Wag, wag - I'd say you're the sweetest thing
Wag, wag - though not as quick as a dart
(in the uptake)

Though you teach us how to pass
I don't want it, let it last
Let us walk an endless stroll
Make up for what long time stole

Still a puppy in a fogey's flesh
First day memories are always fresh
When I sink deep in your eyes
Your love's clear with no disguise

Wag, wag - they say you're a hooligan
Wag, wag - and that you're not very smart
Wag, wag - I'd say you're the sweetest thing
Wag, wag - though not as quick as a dart
(in the uptake)

And be my trouble be my little trouble
My furry warm and stinky nubble

Wag, wag.....
